Drying Your Hand Knit Garment - Using Your Patience for a Great Result

  • Lay the garment on a clean, dry towel and dry flat, pushing the garment into shape.

  • Be sure that the towel and garment are placed out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

  • When the top of the garment feels almost dry, turn it over to allow the other side to dry.

  • It's usually a good idea to steam block the dried garment by arranging it to the size wanted, holding a steam iron 1" over the knitting, and patting the garment into shape. Do not steam block synthetics. Remember, they melt!

  • Fold the garment and place in a drawer or on a shelf. Never hang a knit on a hanger or it will stretch.

  • Put a little lavender in the drawer. It makes the knitted garment smell good and it discourages moths.

  • Enjoy wearing your garment or putting it on your baby!
